During our Writer's Workshop, we have been working on sharing our opinion and trying to persuade others to see our point of view. We began the unit creating posters, educating others about school rules. We shared our opinion about the best part of White Memorial, including detailed writing and illustrations. We also read stories such as I Wanna Iguana and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. Afterwards, we gave reasons for why we felt the way that we did. Students had to reference the books and give specific examples to support their claim. In their writing, they understand when and how to use the word because when explaining their thinking.
