Mrs. Fasciano came in to share with GCS about Rare Disease Day. She spoke specifically about our friend Evan's disease, Ichthyosis. She helped us understand some of the things he does to keep his skin healthy, like keeping the temperature just right, taking lots of baths and using special lotion to keep his skin soft. She passed around orange peels for us to feel. One set of peels were fresh and soft and the other set were dry, hard and cracked easily. They work hard to make sure Evan's skin stays soft and healthy just like our skin and the skin of the soft orange. At first some of us were a little nervous, but Mrs. Fasciano taught us a lot and helped us feel very comfortable. Another amazing accomplishment for Kindergarten! We filled our Warm Fuzzy Jar, again! We can't wait to see what the surprise might be! Stay tuned...

We're off to a great start in celebrating Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Week! As we read the Cat in the Hat this morning, we noticed so many rhyming words! We decided that Dr. Seuss is the "Rhyming Master"! Afterwards, we looked at the word cat and noticed that there were many other words that end in ~at. We made our own ~at word family hat. What a surprise when we came back from Art and our hats were perched on top of our photos in the hallway!
3 Videos from our busy Friday- Dance Party to Hooping and finally, Relaxation! Mrs. Keilty knows how to help us get our brains and our bodies moving! We had such an amazing time hooping! We danced, hooped, balanced and giggled! Not only was it wonderful exercise, it was so joyful! To end our day, Mrs. Lutz came in for our Second Steps lesson. We talked about our feelings and strategies to help when we might be frustrated or angry. We also learned how to calm our bodies and noticed the difference in how we felt before and after our "Relaxation video".
