What a beautiful snowy day! We were a little off all day, not having snack or recess. But, we did spend our day drawing, writing, reading, sorting, counting and creating turkeys! Tomorrow we are excited to use our turkey headbands to act out Ten Little Turkeys! Don't forget to click on our Music and Movement page to hear some fun Thanksgiving songs!

During Math, we read the book, Chrysanthemum, written by Kevin Henkes. In addition to talking about the struggles and the frustrations that Chrysanthemum felt going to school and trying to make friends, we also noticed how many letters were in her name compared to her classmates. We counted 13 letters in her name! Afterwards, we counted the letters in our own names and we each made a unifix tower. We added tape and wrote our name on each tower. In the end, we created a chart with all of our names and put them in order according to size. We noticed that our longest name has 11 letters and the shortest name has 3! The class was unanimous in realizing that the length of our name doesn't matter. Each person's name is "absolutely perfect'!
We combined so many areas of interest into our rocket project-word work, math, science, art, and fine motor work! We practiced counting backwards from 10 and writing our numbers. We identified the letter R and noticed the differences between uppercase and lowercase formation. We talked about how a rocket can get from the ground up into outer space and the force needed to helps it move. And, finally, we had to be careful about creating our stars with the glue and glitter. It was tricky using just the right amount of pressure when squeezing the glue bottles and adding glitter so that our stars twinkled perfectly!
