We were thrilled to have one of our very own grandparents come in to read to us during the Northwest Read Aloud Day. Thanks to Mr. Hooper for sharing the book, A Couch for Llama. It was the perfect story to share on Valentine's Day, a beautiful lesson in kindness and sharing.

Students worked together to turn our dramatic play area into a Library. We have comfy seating, bookshelves, a book return, stamps, library cards and an area to make bookmarks. Not only do we have several librarians but we also have volunteers who help to reshelve and categorize the books by author.
Using red, white and pink manipulatives, cookie cutters and pattern blocks, kindergarteners practiced their addition, their problem solving and their counting on strategies. Also, we learned a new game called Bump. We had fun "bumping" each other off of different spots as we tried to cover up the most numbers on the board.
